About
First of all, I want you to know that I come from Lawrenceville, Georgia. It is about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, 857 miles southwest of New York City, and 2216 miles east of Los Angeles, California. It was there I first saw the light of day back during one particular late night in June, 1972.
Second, this journal is about the musings of a criminal defense attorney in the heart of the Deep and New South. Don’t over think this y’all. This ain’t my attempt to posit theories as to solve the problems of the world or change your mind about politics, religion, sports, et cetera. It is just a place where I can post my two cents worth about what is going on in my daily life. If you like it, great. If you don’t, great, but I am at the age where I don’t give a damn.
Third, here is some pertinent information about your friendly neighborhood public defender. I have been an attorney since 2000. I have been in public defense for almost the entire time. While age is only a number, I feel like a cranky old man. I am a guy, a dude, a man, male, and I thank the dear Lord above everyday for this simple pleasure. I live in the great state of Georgia. I have lived here all of my life. It is my home. I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.
While I hope that you will find my online journal amusing, I would love to hear from you, faithful reader. So, drop me a line at donzell [dot] pd [at] gmail [dot] com. Let me know what’s on your mind.

I came to your site via a site called: “Facing the Sharks and Pro Se”.
I see that you are from Lawrenceville, GA. I was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital and lived my whole life, except the seven years I lived in Lawrenceville, in DeKalb County. I currently own a home in Stone Mountain.
I have enjoyed reading your thoughts. Really loved “While age is only a number, I feel like a cranky old man. I am a guy, a dude, a man, male, and I thank the dear Lord above everyday for this simple pleasure.”
People tend to think of public defenders differently than they do many other humans. I post a lot of documents on a site called scribd.com and there was a public defender that commented on my documents, she used to be a District Attorney, then became public defender. Now, I thought that really odd, but then when I thought about it, who other than a DA would know about the amount of corruption within the Court system. I can only imagine how many people she saw wrongly prosecuted.
I have no respect what-so-ever for most attorneys, they are not human. But, I must confess, I have never had any dealings with a public defender. After reading your musings, I find that you are human with real thoughts, feelings and emotions.
I don’t know why, but was compelled to write to you and tell you that. If there were more attorneys with consciouses and feelings, maybe…never mind.
